Cum longo tempo sit...

Fri Oct 16, 2009, 3:30 PM
So I realized I haven't updated this since school started--which is bad considering I finished the first quarter today. A lot has happened. First things first, WE FINALLY FINISHED KH2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last week was homecoming week at my school and after the dance Saturday I went to Allison's house and spent the night. Jenna, Allison and I all got up early to finish the game and WE DID!!!!!!!!!!! It took forever because we could never find a time that worked for all of us, but it was so worth it.
More good news: I CAN DO SPORTS AGAIN!!! The only bummer is that now I have to try and get in shape for soccer tryouts...in less than a month...after almost a year and half of nothing but PT...I shall do it anyway! I'm really excited to have the chance to be back for it. I've missed playing so much.
Since it's October, we're in full swing for the play The Man Who Came To Dinner, a comedy about a radio personality (Sheridan Whiteside) who slips on ice outside of the Stanley's home after dinner, confining him to the house and all its strange characters with a back injury. From there it gets even better, but I'm not giving anything away...we open November 5 at 7pm btw if anyone wants to come. Just go to showtix4u.com (I know, I'm a walking advertisement, but theater stuff is so much fun!).
This Sunday is the annual beach night my family and a couple of other families have together (we always do stuff with these families on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and during the year every year so they're basically just family), and it's sure to be a great experience. My two friends are bringing their guitars, and I'm going to take my little djembe drum that I got this summer for our "band." Anyway, stuff's been good so far. A fair share of depressing stuff has happened, but I'm sick of it so I'm going for optimistic. Speaking of which, a few years ago I came across a really funny quote that says, "Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back." Gotta love it.
With this I leave you

Sadness

Thu Aug 20, 2009, 6:50 PM
Today was the first day of school. Does it really need embellishment? It was not one of the better days of school, but it turned out okay due to friends. It was so amazing seeing everyone for more than just five minutes. I have to admit, I was bummed when I received my schedule because it looks worse than a freshman's, but that's what I get for taking an extra two classes (one isn't even on the schedule...). I might drop one of my electives so I have more time. If I do, there is absolutely no way I will go to my college counselor. She is the most unhelpful person, and is the reason for confusion in my schedule; five months to fix the mess she made and it still wasn't fixed. Now I'm ranting so I'll move on...
Overall my classes are okay, not great but not bad. I look most forward to English and AP Bio (love the teacher and the class). It was so funny when I walked into English because Mr. Summers was his typical self and tried to scare everybody (he succeeded ;)) We had orals on summer reading, but I think the best thing about it is that I found out he's teaching CP 9th grade english--yes, CP. I personally think that, though he claims he's "taking one for the team," he enjoys torturing freshman haha. The other best thing is that, as payback, I scattered cotton balls on his desk (don't tell or I'll murder you, Oaks ppl!). For those of you who don't know, Mr. Summers hates them and it's kind of a joke.
Anyway, school had more tidbits, but I doubt you're interested in hearing (reading) them...
Hope your week is better than mine...

Oh, and exciting infor: I got my drum!!!! :)

Happy, Sad, and everything in between

So the most depressing news is that school starts in a week exactly, which means back to early mornings, homework, and homework...with more homework. I feel like the summer has flown by and I can't believe it's time for school again. Last night I had to help at this bbq my school has for incoming freshman. We were all matched up with 1-3 freshman buddies (I had 2 but 1 didn't show up) to make them feel welcome and get to know other people. The idea is that they feel included early and can feel comfortable knowing they can go to their "buddy." Anyway, I'm looking at it as enjoy what's left of summer. The best part about the freshman bbq was being able to finally see all my friends and catch up with them. It was so great talking with them and just hanging out...I missed them all so much this summer.
In completely different news, I bought the drum for the band I'm in now! It's on its way and I'm beginning to get really excited because it means the band is actually happening. We have about four songs written (lyrics), but only one almost completed instrumentally. It will be so amazing to see what happens with the band. Oh, and may I ask your opinion on band names? We're still brainstorming, but we know we want "anthem" in it. Right now two proposed names are "A New Anthem" and "The Dying Anthem." Please please PLEASE let me know if you have any ideas...I won't reject any (unless they're from jenna...jk I love you;)).

Excitement and Weird Discoveries

Wed Jul 29, 2009, 2:41 PM
My biggest news: I'm finally a licensed driver!!!!!! After months of not scheduling lessons/test, picking my sister up from Seattle, and surgery I finally got my license today!!!!! Needless to say, I'm VERRRYYY excited. =D
Weird Discoveries:
I've said it before, but my two friends decided they want to start a band with the three of us. They nominated me to write a song (the attempt is currently posted). Little did I know that last week at a movie night we had (and have every year) they would analyze it, scrutinize it, and show it off. I was very nervous about that....especially since it was the first song I've ever written. Anyway, it ended up being a really fun night. the movie Rat Race is hilarious. You should watch it.
The weirdest thing I discovered, however, is the fact that it is impossible for me not to take notes on school stuff. I was working on some ap bio work and told myself I would only take notes on what I needed to write my FRQ. I was wrong. I lasted about five pages (if that much) before I could go no longer. I promptly sprang up, gathered paper and a pen, and jostled down notes. I cannot not take notes. IT's a very sad conviction.
Sister yelling for (at?) me. See ya!

Post-Op and birthdays

Sun Jul 19, 2009, 6:38 PM
For all of you who care, my surgery went well and I'm doing well. I'm already hobbling along and should be able to walk soon, but I still have to use crutches as a precaution. And yes, I do have pain pills ;) (No, you can't have any, Alli). I'm starting to get rather bored just sitting around though, which is a huge bummer. I guess I'll continue my schoolwork for now. I was planning on watching the videotape of the surgery to see what my doctor did, but unfortunately it didn't work and there was only snow when I tried to view it. He smoothed my cartilage, but he also did something to these bands I still had in my knee that are supposed to go away when I'm younger. i go back to the doctor in nine days so he can check up on me and get me started on physical therapy (pain!).
Amid all this my sister's birthday was Friday. She ended up shopping with my mom for a bit before coming home, and we all relaxed at home before going to dinner at Macaroni Grill. As always, it was quite tasty. Her big present was going back to Seattle to see her college friends and spending time with them. She comes back Wednesday.
That's my news. Hope you're all doing well!
